In the year 2020, the world was just learning of COVID-19, and life as we knew it changed. There was great uncertainty brought on by the worldwide pandemic. I was overwhelmed and stressed, and I felt tired, nervous, and consumed with worry for myself, my family and friends, and my community. Whoever said with every negative comes a positive, I would have to agree. It was during this period that my self-love journey began. Before COVID-19 set in, I was juggling many things at once – constantly on the go, and I rarely had time for myself. The pandemic forced me to take a step back from my hectic life. I started to value my time alone, focusing on self-care. Small changes like getting a good night's sleep and practicing daily gratitude made me feel less stressed. Downloading the app selfsea was also key to helping me navigate self-love. As we return to a new normal, and as schedules begin to fill, I am once again becoming immersed in a hectic school schedule. I remind myself to practice mindfulness, set aside daily “me” time, and turn to selfsea for support.
